Important!

All CS102 grades have been entered in eLearning and final grades posted to MyBama.

EVERYONE needs to look at their grade postings in eLearning and make sure everything is posted and that everything  is correct; especially people that had make-ups. Make-up scores were hand entered, so there is more room for errors. I have already had a few that have emailed to let me know that their make-ups were not posted at all. It is your responsibility to verify your grade postings and make us aware of any errors. We need to be made aware of all errors ASAP. It is much easier to correct things now, rather than after grade posting closes.  Please take a look at your eLearning grades right now.

Additionally, people with make-ups that were unexcused had points deducted from their make-up scores. So if you took a make-up, but the score posted is 10, 20, etc points less, this is why.

When calculating grades, we used the following formula:

Exam 1 + Exam 2 + Exam 3 +Exam 4 +Exam 5 + Exam 6 + (Lesson Average) + (Quiz/Lab Average) Total / 8

Note: I dropped one lesson grade for everyone, so average the 5 highest lesson grades to get Average.

Note:  When averaging in the syllabus quiz, change it to a percentage first, ex. 170/170 = 100 %

Note:  Once you get Total/8, you can add any bonus points to that total.(Bonus was awarded to those that had no make-ups excused/unexcused)

Final Grade: Take that total and compare directly to grade chart on the syllabus.

There are no additional opportunities for extra work/points, so please don’t ask.

EMAIL ANY GRADE PROBLEMS now!

Click here to watch  INTRODUCTION video in place of class meeting 1/16
This is a Tegrity video posted in Elearning. You will have to accept downloads and set-ups if you have never used Tegrity. Don't stress about it. Please attempt viewing it, I think it will help. If you can't watch the video, you can at least click throught the PPT presentation here.

Before the first class meeting on January 23rd, please do the following:

  1. Watch the introduction video to familiarize yourself with the course

  2. Print out the syllabus (link above) and course calendar(link above).

  3. Read the syllabus and use it to answer the questions on the Syllabus Quiz located under assessments in your CS102 eLearning course, www.elearning.ua.edu . This will be your first grade in CS102, so use your syllabus to get all the questions correct.

  4. Make sure you can login to https://alabama.simnetonline.com using your username (first part of your crimson email address, take off the @crimson.ua.edu) and your password (your 8-digit CWID). If you cannot, then contact your instructor with your name, section number, and CWID and let him/her know that you are unable to login to SimNet.

  5. If you have your SimNet registration code (compare to syllabus, and make sure it is the correct one before opening), you may login to SimNet and register the code. It is CAP sensitive, so enter exactly as it appears. If you plan on buying the code online for instant access, you may login to SimNet and select the online purchase option.  Once you register or purchase your code, log out of SimNet and back in. You should have access to all the SimNet tabs.

  6. You may go to the Assignments Tab and Lessons sub-tab and begin working the Win7/IE8 lessons. Watch video in eLearning to learn about working your lessons.

  7. Also, before coming to class next week, use the link at the top of the page to find out your assigned computer for the semester.
