The following software resources are available for computer science faculty and students.

The VMware e-Academy program allows faculty and students doing research in the computer science program to download and install selected VMware software free through the e-Academy web store. Licenses will give you unrestricted use of software for one year. Students need to provide faculty advisor’s name, Crimson email address and CWID to setup the account. Send your request to CS Tech support or stop by the office in SEC 3428.

Microsoft Imagine Premium allows eligible students and faculty within computer science to download and install Microsoft applications on their personal computers. Send your request to the OIT Service Desk. Provide the CS class you are currently enrolled in, your Crimson email address and CWID.

OpenOffice.org from Sun Microsystems: Students can download free OpenOffice.org 3.2.1. OpenOffice.org 2 is an open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. OpenOffice.org 2 can read and write Microsoft Office files.

The University of Alabama’s Office of Information Technology software catalog: OIT works with University academic and administrative departments to provide campus-wide and volume licensing agreements for commonly used software programs and applications.
